Taking care of our sight seems to be easy to overlook. For many who don’t wear or need any type of prescription glasses, we often ignore visiting an optometrist if there is nothing inherently wrong with our sight. It is often recommended that we see one about once every other year. With the eye being the most important or one of the most important organs in the human body. It is crucial to maintain the health and longevity of this sense. Moving over one hundred thousand times a day, not even stopping while we sleep. With that, one why we can ensure many more sight-full days ahead, is to get an eye test. Now there are other ways to keep your eyes health, but for now I want to focus on getting examined.
The folks at Vision Expressed, have made it easy, convenient and free to get your eyes checked out. Touring around the United Kingdom with mobile vision center for their National Eye Health week, starting on the 19th of September until the 25th. They aim to bring awareness to eye health. Doing this by providing as I said a free eye test. The hope is to inform people of any slight stigmatism or preventative measures that could avoid that.
What are somethings that you can expect from your experience when entering this facility? Well, after coming on a schedule day for a walk in or setting up an appointment, which are available for your convenience. You will be greeted by the staff and asked standard question about your medical history pertaining to your eyes and any medication you may take that can interfere with vision. Once you have completed that, you are introduced to the autorefractor. Its purpose is to identify how your eyes process light, looking for any anomalies that might indicate the need for prescription glasses or contacts. Another way used in observing your eye is the Digital Retinal Photography (DRP). It takes a picture of the back of the eye, giving a closer look at your overall eye and can be used as a reference at your next checkup. I won’t go into detail about every step of the examination, but, you can be assured your eyes are being inspected completely.
After all is said and done, you will be consulted about the results of each test. If there are any abnormalities, you will be given recommendations by the optometrist. They explain if your current prescription is adequate or if you need one for the first time. Whether you want glasses or contacts and even taking about the benefits of lasik surgeries. If your vision comes back perfect and there is no need for any type of corrections, then you will be instructed on some practices that can help promote that vision. Such as wearing sunglasses as a simple example.
With the services offered, its easy and free to get your eyes examined and with the importance of how our eyes play into everyday life, you owe it to yourself to take care of them.
