You’ve just abruptly found yourself single at 42. A light bulb appears in your head. Why hasn’t someone told you to wait? The fact is, once you’re out in the dating world, there’s no waiting. But, what now, if you’re single at forty-two?
It’s a natural feeling to be single at a younger age, but it’s a little bit odd not being single by the time you reach forty-two. The most common reason is probably that you’ve already known all your friends for quite a few years. You haven’t had to date anyone new since high school. So, what’s keeping you from the man or woman of your dreams? The answer is simple: you don’t have anyone to fall in love with!
Now, this can be devastating, especially if you’re a social person and enjoy interaction with people. If you love the attention, then maybe you should just slow down for a while until you’re used to being single. You’ll definitely need to learn to get along with other people and not to take rejection too personally.
Besides, if you want to meet someone special, then you’ll have to do something. Go out on a date. Don’t just sit around waiting for the phone to ring with the next “available”. If you think that you’ll find a soul mate after you’ve been single for such a long time, then go out and do something about it. Be passionate about your life now.
This can be the most difficult part, especially if you’ve always felt that you were successful and capable. It’s important to realize that there are many things in life that require a lot of energy and effort, so don’t let yourself feel too down. Have realistic expectations about your future. Being suddenly alone can be scary, but it also means that you’re probably more attractive than you might have realized. Who knows?
If you’re still single after a good period of dating, then it’s probably time to move on to the next step in your life. Or to pursue something that is even better than what you’re already pursuing. The important thing is to realize that it’s possible to find happiness in a different field of activity and that it’s also possible to find your true soul mate.
Take some time to reflect on your past relationships and think about what went wrong. Was the love more real than the attraction? How do you think you’ll handle being single now? Are there things from your past that you need to change?
Whatever your situation, take some time to evaluate it. What you need to do is to get as much information as possible about your situation and how you’ll deal with it. Sometimes this can even mean talking to a few people who are in the same position as you. You might find out that there are things about your life that you’re not very happy about and this can help you realize what you should do about it.
